NEW BOILERS FOR LAUTOKA SUGAR MILL

Published on: October 18, 2020

Too cool not to share.

The silver boilers on my left were put together by FSC engineers, with some help from Fiji Airways.

Getting these boilers up and running slightly delayed the start of the Lautoka Mill’s operations – but it has been worth it.

These boilers are much cleaner and more efficient. Unlike the old system, which emitted a great deal of soot throughout the mill.

This new boiler system means no more complaints from families back home when workers return with black stains on their clothes – it also means cleaner air for everyone to breathe.

You can see the truck in the photo loading boiler ash.

The old mill system was so inefficient, we only had two loads of ash carted out in a given day. Now It’s more like 14-15 truckloads daily-PM BAINIMARAMA.
